ABOUT KRIS LANDERS
Kris Landers graduated from Oldham County High School (“OCHS”) in 1992 and went on to work at the Oldham County Board of Education for nearly 30 years. He was passionate about OCHS sports, the Kentucky Wildcats and he loved all things Oldham County. Kris was a fixture on the sidelines with our OCHS Football and Basketball teams dating back to the late 1980's. He could remember every game and every player to wear the Colonel Blue and White. Kris loved being with the coaches and teams; even giving motivational speeches from time to time.
His impact reached far beyond the sidelines as he worked with the LaGrange Fire Department and the Crusade for Children for over 40 years. In 2013, Kris was the Grand Marshal of the Oldham County Day Parade. In 2019, Kris was awarded the Colonel “Lead the Charge” Award for his long-time commitment to OCHS. Sadly, Kris passed away at the age of 49 in 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Kris Landers was a great role model to generations of athletes who passed through Oldham County High School. This stadium that now bears his name will serve as a permanent reminder of the passion and love he had for the Colonel community. Kris was a loving brother, a loyal friend, a hard worker, and a proud Oldham Countian. Simply put, Kris Landers was the Gold Standard of Humanity. The Kris Landers Foundation was formed in late 2020 to help remember and honor Kris for generations to come. The foundation worked with the OC Board of Education in 2021 to officially name the OCHS athletic stadium in Kris’ honor. With continued respect to the family of William Bell, the stadium is now officially known as Bell Field at Kris Landers Stadium. The foundation continues to provide yearly scholarships to deserving high school students from all public high schools within Oldham County. |
